In addition to case consultation in Experiential Play Therapy, we offer training workshops in Experiential Play Therapy.

 

Workshops and Trainings

 
 * Treating children through Experiential Play Therapy

This is a 14 hr./two day workshop sponsored by The Community Lighthouse given annually by Dr. Byron Norton. This course is required for those seeking credentialing as an Experiential Play Therapist (EPT), and  for those seeking the credentials for Registered Play Therapist.

*Case Consultation in Play Therapy
Dr. Norton offers 6 hr. group consultations bi-monthly 5 times a year. Charlotte Knauber MA NCC LPCC RPT-S and Mark Ferriegel MA ATR LPCC co-facilitate these consultation groups.

* Intensive Training in Experiential Play Therapy

This is a week long/40hr training in Experiential Play therapy facilitated by Byron Norton, Charlotte Knauber, and Mark Ferriegel.  Participants will provide play therapy to children while being supervised from behind a two way mirror.  There will be video reviews of play sessions with a facilitator.

 

* Speaking To Unconsciousness in Experiential Play Therapy (Charlotte Speaks)

This is a 3 hr workshop given by Charlotte Knauber that teaches how to establish trust, build confidence, and affirm the experience of the child and healing through communication to the unconscious of the child. This training qualifies for RPT and EPT certification.

 

* Somatic Expressions of Trauma In Experiential Play Therapy

This is a 3 hr workshop presented by Charlotte Knauber and Mark Ferriegel.  Participants will learn how to identify the subtle traumatic body movements made by children in play.  The natural healing process will be identified so that the play therapist will know where the child is in the therapeutic process. This trainning qualifies for RPT and EPT certification.


Distance Learning and Supervision


We offer distance workshops and trainings through web conferencing and we provide individual supervision using web cams. For more information, call Mark Ferriegel at 505-262-9391.
 

Internships

The Community Lighthouse offers internships for students in the mental health fields.  We accept counselors, social workers, marriage and family therapist and psychologist. Our internships focus on Experiential Play Therapy and gathering data for research.
